Lysicrates Martin Prize
Our next major initiative is the establishment of the Lysicrates Martin Prize for children’s plays. This is in honour of the venerable James Martin litterateur, journalist, solicitor, QC, Attorney-General, three times Premier, and Chief Justice of New South Wales, (Sir) James Martin (1820-1886), in whose honour ‘Martin Place’ in Sydney is named, and who also supported the development of the choregic monument of Lysicrates, now in the Royal Botanic Gardens at Farm Cove.
The Prize will mirror the Lysicrates Prize in style, and support the development of children’s plays with a focusing on the childhood home of James, Western Sydney. Further news on this exciting next step for The Foundation will be provided soon.
